RW Sleighter provided architecture and engineering services for the construction of a new 58 unit multi-family townhouse development located in McKeesport, PA. The project was funded through competitive tax credits administered by Pennsylvania Housing Finance Agency (PHFA).
Site engineering: Demolition and asbestos abatement of 17 buildings, select site demolition of utilities, landscaping, and concrete. Installation of sanitary sewer, storm sewer, water lines, gas lines, and electric, phone, cable and communication conduits as well as site grading. Installation of new integral concrete curb and sidewalk, concrete curb ramps, handicap parking areas, asphalt pavement, dumpster pads and enclosures, signage, and landscaping.
Architecture: The complete design of 10 new residential townhouse apartment buildings (58 apartment units). The design included a mix of brick and siding on the building exteriors. The 10 buildings alternated between multiple complementary design schemes and colors to provide variety and establish a neighborhood feel to the development. Each building included one story and two story apartments. All 20 one story apartments were designed to be fully handicapped accessible and/or adaptable. The 38 two story apartments included 22 two bedroom apartments and 16 three bedroom apartments. Interiors included modern open floor plans, wood trim vinyl plank (simulated wood) flooring, wood window and door trim and lots of natural light. The project was designed to meet all Pennsylvania Housing Finance Agency requirements for tax credit projects.
